Socktoberfest Sock Drive Leads Off Softball Service Projects
10/09/25 | Softball
EUGENE, Ore. – The annual Socktoberfest sock drive will lead off the Oregon softball team's fall community service projects. The Ducks are asking fans to bring new socks to Sunday's fall-opening doubleheader against Oregon Tech (12:30 p.m.) and Southwestern Oregon Community College (3 p.m.) at Jane Sanders Stadium. Admission is free.
As in previous years, the Ducks are partnering with Looking Glass Community Services for the sock drive. More than 1,000 pairs of socks have been collected each of the last three falls. New socks of any size are accepted from infant to adult.
The next community service project this fall is a drive to fight homelessness on Oct. 18 when the Ducks host Boise State and Eastern Oregon. Fans are asked to donate new or gently used clothing and shoes, as well as toiletries (deodorant, hygiene products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner, etc.).
The Oct. 19 doubleheader with Western Washington will serve as a drive to collect items for animals and their owners. Fans can donate food, treats, pet cleaning supplies, blankets, towels, leashes, collars, harnesses and toys.
The final exhibition on Oct. 22 against Western Oregon will be the toy drive where the team will collect new and unwrapped toys for children in the community.
