Ducks Leave Michigan With Road Split
02/02/25 | Women's Basketball
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Oregon women's basketball team leaves its two-game swing through the state of Michigan with a road split, after the Ducks fell to Michigan 80-48 at Crisler Center on Sunday.
Oregon (16-6, 7-4) entered the game with the top scoring defense in Big Ten play, but the Wolverines put up a season-high point total and marked the first team to reach the 80-point mark against the Ducks.
"We played tired," said UO head coach Kelly Graves. "We didn't play with the same type of intensity and enthusiasm that we did the other night, that we need to on the road. I credit Michigan, they were hungry."

U-M shot 54 percent from the floor and knocked down 9-of-20 3-point attempts, while limiting UO to 30 percent shooting in a season-low scoring effort.
"It's just one of those night," Graves added. "It happens to every team, from time to time, and tonight was our time. … It seemed like for the first time the road kinda got us."
Freshman Katie Fiso and senior Phillipina Kyei led the Ducks with 11 points apiece, as the duo was the only players to finish in double figures. Kyei flirted with a double-double with a team-best eight rebounds. Eleven different players got into the scoring column.
How It Happened: The Ducks scored the first points of the game on a Kyei layin, but the Wolverines scored the next nine points as part of a 15-2 run. Â Nani Falatea knocked down a 3-pointer to end the run and brought UO within eight, 15-7, with just under five minutes left in the quarter. The Ducks also got 3-pointers from Sofia Bell and Peyton Scott in the quarter, but Michigan converted six Oregon turnovers into 10 points for a 25-15 lead after the first.
Five straight points from Fiso trimmed the deficit to five, 25-20, but the Ducks missed their next eight shots as U-M pushed its lead up to 11, 31-20. UO was limited to nine points of 4-of-18 shooting, including 1-for-6 from deep, in the second. Fiso accounted for seven of Oregon's points, with the Wolverines taking a 38-24 lead into halftime.
Fiso paced Oregon with seven points in the half, with Kyei adding six to go with four rebounds. Michigan shot 58 percent from the field compared to 32 percent by the Ducks. The Wolverines owned an 18-11 rebounding edge in the half, helping to a 20-12 lead in points in the paint.

Oregon's offense was more efficient in the third quarter, as it scored 16 points over the first seven minutes of play, but went without a field goal over the final four and a half minutes. During that time, Michigan pushed its lead from eight to 20 after scoring eight unanswered points and led 63-41 through three.
The Wolverines scored the first eight points of the fourth to push their lead to 30, 71-41, and held UO to just seven points in the fourth quarter.
Notable: This was the first-ever meeting between Oregon and Michigan … Oregon's four-game winning streak was snapped … The Ducks allowed a season-high 80 points, as UO entered the game allowing the fewest points in Big Ten play at 58.5 per game … The 32-point margin marked the largest in defeat for Oregon this season.
Up Next: The Ducks return to Matthew Knight Arena to host No. 14 Maryland on Thursday (6 p.m., FS1).
