Ducks Pick up Road Win at UC Davis
02/21/25 | Women's Tennis
DAVIS, Calif. – The Oregon women's tennis team snapped a two-match skid and picked up its first road win of the season Friday, as the Ducks defeated UC Davis 4-2 at Marya Welch Tennis Center.
The Ducks (6-2), ranked No. 59 in the latest ITA team rankings, won four singles matches to clinch the win over the Aggies (3-7).
For just the second time in eight matches the Ducks failed to take the doubles point. Adjusting the lineup from the previous few matches, the 80th-ranked doubles pair of Tilde Jagare and Juliet Santitto played at the top spot for the first time this season, but suffered their first loss to fall to 4-1 this spring.
The only UO doubles pair to earn a victory was the pair of Karin Young and Bridget Mihulka, who won 6-4 on court two, while playing together for the first time.
Oregon went down 2-0 after UC Davis clinched the first singles match at No. 1, but the Ducks stormed back to win the next four, getting wins at Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 6.
Young won in straight sets on court two, 6-2, 7-6 (2) for UO's first team point. Freshman Patsy Daughters leveled the score at 2-2 while also improving to 6-2 this spring, with her 7-6 (1), 6-2 win at No. 4.
The next two matches each went into a third set, with Candela Aparisi hanging on to defeat Daisy Maunupau 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, and the match was clinched when freshman Bridget Mihulka outlasted Penelope Wong, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Mihulka pushed her spring singles record to 3-2 while Aparisi improved to 3-1.
Through eight spring matches, Oregon's doubles teams are a combined 15-7, while boasting a 26-12 singles mark. The Ducks finish their two-match California swing on Saturday at Saint Mary's (11 a.m.).
