Ducks Drop First B1G Road Test

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Oregon struggled to get in a rhythm in its first Big Ten road game, falling 16-4 to No. 6 Maryland.
The Ducks (5-6, 0-4 Big Ten) were able to pressure the Terrapin (7-2, 3-1 Big Ten) offense early and for them into uncomfortable shots. Maryland outshot the Ducks, 39-13, but Paige Crowther put together her best performance of the season in goal, making a career-high 17 saves on 39 shots.
Rachel Pallo and Bri Carrasquillo scored two goals apiece to lead Oregon offensively, while Emma Ing and Lyla Hurley each tallied an assist.
How It Happened: Neither team was able to find the back of the net early as both defenses stood tall. Paige Crowther made three saves before Maryland was able to put the first points on the board. The Terrapins scored three more in the opening frame to take a 4-0 lead into the second.
The Terps scored three more to start the second before Bri Carrasquillo net her 28th of the season to put the Ducks on the board. Maryland scored with seconds left before the horn to push the lead to 8-1 at the half.
Crowther entered the locker room with 13 saves, which matched her previous career high. She didn't have to wait long to set that record, making two more saves in the period. Rachel Pallo scored twice in the third, her first multi-goal game of the season, but Maryland pushed the lead to double-digits with five of its own.
Carrasquillo scored her team-leading 29th of the season late in the fourth.
Notable: With three tonight, Pallo moved into third in program history in career draw controls (165) ... Carrasquillo leads the Ducks in goals (29) and points (34) this season.
