No. 12 Oregon beat No. 8 Florida State for the second time this weekend Sunday, and followed with a win over Abilene Christian.
EUGENE, Ore. — When Oregon's long win streak came to an end Saturday, there was only one proper way to respond. The Ducks came out Sunday and did exactly that.
A day after the No. 12 Ducks' win streak ended at 16 games, they got started on another one Sunday by sweeping two games in the Jane Sanders Classic on their home field. Oregon (23-2) shut out No. 8 Florida State for the second time in three days, winning 1-0, then capped the weekend with a 3-1 win over Abilene Christian in the evening.
"I wanted to see how they were going to respond today," UO coach Melyssa Lombardi said. "We'd been on that streak, taking care of business. Not getting what we wanted (Saturday), how would we respond? And we responded great."

Elise Sokolsky threw a two-hit shutout against the Seminoles to open the day, two days after Lyndsey Grein blanked them on one hit. Braiesey Rosa drove in Oregon's lone run, after her two-run homer was key in Friday's 2-0 victory, and she ended up with the game-winning RBI against Abilene Christian as well — a solo homer for the Ducks' second run of the game.
Rosa, playing catcher full-time while Emma Cox recovers from an injury, is 3-for-5 with two homers and drove in five of the six runs the Ducks scored in their three victories so far in the Jane Sanders Classic.
"It's pretty cool to watch," Grein said of Rosa's breakout weekend. "It's awesome. She doesn't just tap the ball, she makes a performance out of it — that ball flies. It's been super fun to watch her success, taking advantage of the opportunity."

How It Happened (Game 1) — Oregon 1, Florida State 0: The Ducks didn't score until the fifth inning, but Sokolsky kept it scoreless until then and didn't need any more support. She allowed only a couple of singles, in the fourth and sixth, with only one runner reaching scoring position.
"It was a lot of fun," said Sokolsky (5-1), who struck out five and didn't walk a batter. "Just a great defensive performance to keep us in it."
The Ducks put a runner in scoring position each of the first three innings but couldn't capitalize. They broke through in the fifth.
Kedre Luschar led off with a bunt single, and went to third on a base hit by Dezianna Patmon. After a stolen base put two runners in scoring position with nobody out, Rosa fisted a single into left field to score Luschar with the game's only run.

A week after recording her first collegiate hit, the sophomore catcher has been the offensive star of the Jane Sanders Classic.
"I built that confidence throughout this weekend, and my teammates were pushing me," Rosa said. "Sometimes I get hard on myself, but that's one thing about this team — we talk it through with each other, and that alone helps me be more comfortable and more confident in myself."
How It Happened (Game 2) — Oregon 3, Abilene Christian 1: Two days after shutting out Florida State on Friday, but after battling her command in Saturday's loss, Grein (13-0) threw five one-hit innings against the Wildcats.
She left with a 1-0 lead thanks in part to — who else? — Rosa. In the bottom of the third, Kaylynn Jones reached on an error, stole second and took third on a wild pitch. Up strode Rosa, who handled the situation perfectly by driving the ball into the outfield for a sacrifice fly that scored Jones.

Rosa then hit her solo homer in the fifth for a 2-0 lead. Sokolsky relieved Grein for the sixth, and the Ducks got some insurance in the bottom of the inning when Luschar again reached on a bunt single, took second on an error, was sacrificed to third and scored on a bunt single by Jones.
A two-out double followed by an error in the seventh spoiled Oregon's shutout, but Kai Luschar made a diving catch in the outfield to end the game and preserve the Ducks' second win of the day.
Notable: Kedre Luschar extended her hitting streak to 12 games with hits in each game Sunday. … That's the longest streak by a Duck since Allee Bunker hit in 18 straight in 2022. … Abby Steffen made her first career start in the opener, at first base. She started the second game there as well.
Up Next: The Ducks wrap up the Jane Sanders Classic by hosting Abilene Christian again Monday (10:30 a.m., B1G+).
