Neville, Walsh named Dick Howser Trophy semifinalists

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon centerfielder Mason Neville and first baseman Jacob Walsh have been named semifinalists for the Dick Howser Trophy, presented to the top player in college baseball.
Neville and Walsh are the fourth and fifth Oregon baseball players all time to be named to the semifinalists for the trophy, joining Jimmie Sherfy (2013), David Peterson (2017) and Aaron Zavala (2021).
Neville (Las Vegas, Nev. / Basic HS), heads into this weekend's regular-season ending series at Iowa as the national leader in home runs (26) and home runs per game (0.52). He also ranks 11th nationally in base on balls, 13th in base on balls per game, 15th in runs scored and 21st in runs per game. The Ducks' junior has already set two Oregon single-season records, home runs and walks, and is closing in on the season record for runs scored. He heads into Thursday's game slashing .322/.469/.831 with a 1.300 OPS, while accounting for 41 extra-base hits (14 2B) and a team-high 56 RBI.
Walsh (Las Vegas, Nev. / Desert Oasis HS) leads Oregon batting .330 while slugging .655 and reaching base at a .446 clip with a 1.111 OPS. Oregon's career home run leader, Walsh has belted 17 homers this season which ranks fourth all-time at the UO and is tied for 26th nationally. He has 31 extra-base hits (14 2B) while driving in 54 runs and scoring 48 runs (tied for second on the team).
