Ducks Vs. Pokes Up Next
After an impressive win to kick off 2025 in front of a sold-out Autzen Stadium, the No. 6 Ducks are back home once again this week to host Oklahoma State in a nonconference battle. The Ducks and Cowboys will face off for just the second time, and first since Oregon came away victorious in the 2008 Holiday Bowl. UO will look to continue its run of dominance at home; the Ducks have won 16 consecutive games in Autzen and are 39-1 at home since Sept. 22, 2018.
Off And Running
Oregon got its 2025 season off to a terrific start last weekend, running away from FCS power Montana State in a 59-13 win at Autzen Stadium. The Ducks were remarkably balanced on offense, stopped the run on defense and minimzed significant mistakes while extending the nation's longest active nonconference home winning streak to 35 games. UO finished with 253 yards both rushing and receiving in the first start with the program for redshirt sophomore quarterback Dante Moore, and the offense never had to punt while coming away with points on all nine drives before a kneel-down to end the game. Oregon's defense shut down a Montana State rushing attack that led all FCS and FBS teams in rushing in 2024, limiting the Bobcats to just 46 yards on the ground. UO's special teams also made its presence felt with a blocked punt in the first quarter.
Double Down
Oregon made quite the first impression in its inaugural season in the Big Ten in 2024, going undefeated in the regular season before defeating Penn State in the conference title game and earning the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff. The Ducks came in to 2025 looking to "double down," as head coach Dan Lanning declared at Big Ten Media Day. UO completed an undefeated, 12-0 regular season en route to matching the program record for wins with a 13-1 overall record.
A Win Would...
» Extend Oregon's nation-leading nonconference home winning streak to 36 games.
» Be the Ducks' 17th consecutive home win and make UO 21-1 at home under head coach Dan Lanning.
» Be Oregon's 32nd in a row against unranked opponents.
Every Phase of the Game
Oregon established itself as one of the nation's most well-rounded teams in 2024, and the Ducks are off to another balanced start after their dominant 59-13 win over Montana State in the 2025 season opener. Oregon passed for 253 yards behind quarterback Dante Moore in his UO starting debut while matching that output with 253 rushing yards as a dozen different Ducks carried the ball. The Ducks' defense was just as impressive, holding a MSU rushing attack that led both the FCS and FBS levels with 4,179 yards in 2024 to just 46 yards on the ground on 27 carries. UO sacked the Bobcats three times and held them to just 3-of-12 on third down. The Ducks' special teams unit also made an impact, nearly blocking Montana State's first punt of the game before later getting home for a blocked punt that set up Oregon's lone field goal of the game.
» UO had 250-plus yards both rushing and passing in a game for the first time since the 2023 season opener vs. Portland State.
» In 2024, Oregon was one of only three teams (Ole Miss, Tennessee) in the nation to rank in the top 25 nationally for scoring offense (17th, 34.9 PPG), total offense (22nd, 437.4 YPG), scoring defense (16th, 19.4 PPG) and total defense (15th, 315.9 YPG).
» UO was one of four teams (TCU, Texas, Western Kentucky) in the top 25 for both passing offense (13th, 279.5 YPG) and passing defense (25th, 185.9 YPG).
» Oregon was also one of seven teams in the top 25 for both third-down offense (9th, 48.6%) and third-down defense (23rd, 33.7%).
» Oregon's 2024 special teams ranked sixth in the FBS in kickoff return average (26.83) and tied for 11th in touchbacks (61), and was one of 12 FBS teams to return both a kickoff and punt for a touchdown.
If You're Good Enough, You're Old Enough
It was a youth movement for the Ducks in the season opener vs. Montana State as 29 total true freshmen saw playing time. That number included 12 true freshmen and 17 redshirt freshmen, and two true sophomores also played to give Oregon a total of 31 players in their first or second year of college football. Two true freshmen - WR Dakorien Moore and DB Brandon Finney Jr. - earned starting nods in their collegiate debuts, and three redshirt freshmen - DL Tionne Gray, DB Aaron Flowers and DB Ify Obidegwu - were also in the starting lineup.
» Moore and Finney became the first true freshmen to start a season opener for Oregon since WR Josh Delgado in 2019.
» First time in program history Oregon has started multiple true freshmen in a season opener.
» Moore and Finney became the seventh and eighth UO true freshmen ever to start a season opener.

Duck Legends Helping Send Local Youth To Saturday's Game
For the second time in the last three years, Oregon legend Marcus Mariota has partnered with the University of Oregon athletic department to help send local youth to a Duck football game. Two years after leading an effort that helped more than 1,500 kids from the greater Eugene-Springfield area attend a UO matchup against Hawai'i, Mariota is spearheading a similar drive to get kids out to the Ducks' game this weekend against Oklahoma State. Fans can contribute to the effort by purchasing $35 tickets to be donated toward the drive via goducks.com/Motiv8. Mariota's fellow all-time UO greats Justin Herbert and Sabrina Ionescu are offering their support as well. "I want to do it again because it's about more than football, it's a memory that sticks with them forever," Mariota said. "I know Oregon football fans will do everything they can to help get as many kids as possible into Autzen Stadium for this game."
Balanced Attack In Season Opener
The Ducks' offense got the 2025 season off to a dynamic start last weekend, utilizing remarkable balance and depth in a dominant 59-13 win over Montana State. Oregon finished with 253 yards both passing and rushing, its first game with 250-plus yards in both categories since the 2023 season opener vs. Portland State. Quarterback Dante Moore led the way in his first start as a Duck with 213 yards and three touchdowns on 18-of-23 passing, and 10 different Ducks finished with at least one reception. Seniors Malik Benson (5 rec., 51 yards, TD) and Gary Bryant Jr. (4 rec., 31 yards, TD) paced the receiving corps, and junior tight end Kenyon Sadiq also caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Moore. A dozen different Ducks received carries in the running game, led by 10 rushes for 68 yards and a touchdown from starter Noah Whittington and three touchdowns on six carries by true freshman Jordon Davison. Jayden Limar also had a touchdown run, scoring from 16 yards out for Oregon's first TD of 2025.
» First game with 50-plus points since a 63-19 win over California on Nov. 4, 2023.
» Improved to 5-0 under head coach Dan Lanning when scoring 50-plus points.
» 20th game under Lanning with 500-plus yards of total offense (506), improving to 18-2 in those games.
» One of five FBS schools to have at least 250 yards both rushing and passing in a game through Week 1.
» 11th time since 1996 Oregon has had at least five rushing touchdowns and three passing touchdowns in a game.
» Other than a kneel-down to end the game, the Ducks did not surrender a sack or tackle for loss vs. MSU.
» Oregon scored points on each of its first nine possessions (eight TDs, one field goal) before kneeling on final drive.
Defense Up To The Task
Facing the nation's top rushing attack from 2024, the Oregon defense was more than up to the task in a 59-13 win over FCS runner-up Montana State in the season opener last week. A season ago, the Bobcats led the FCS with 6.53 yards per carry and paced both the FBS and FCS levels with 4,719 rushing yards, but were stymied by the UO front to the tune of just 46 rushing yards on 27 carries - an average of only 1.7 yards per attempt. The Bobcats registered just three first downs on the ground, all of which came in the second half with the game out of hand. MSU went 0-for-6 on third-down attempts in the first half and just 3-for-12 in the game.
» Montana State's season low rushing output in 2024 was 159 yards while it was held below the 200-yard mark just twice.
» The Bobcats' lowest yards per carry in a game last season was 4.44 against South Dakiota in the FCS National Semifinal.
» UO recorded 3.0 sacks and 7.0 tackles for loss in the opener, the 10th game since the 2024 season opener with multiple sacks.
» The Ducks gave up just 244 total yards to MSU, marking their 20th straight victory when holding teams under 300 yards.
» It marked the 18th time under head coach Dan Lanning that UO held its opponent to 14 points or less, and the Ducks have now won 103 consecutive games when allowing 14 points or less.
» Oregon allowed Montana State to reach the red zone just once on Saturday, and not until late in the fourth quarter when the Bobcats scored their only touchdown with under five minutes to play.
No-Punt Zone
The Ducks made an impact on special teams in the season opener vs. Montana State, nearly blocking the Bobcats' first punt of the game before getting home for a block later in the first quarter. Redshirt freshman Jeremiah McClellan was at the center of both plays, not quite getting a piece of the ball on MSU's first punt but disrupting the punter enough to yield just a 13-yard kick and set up an Oregon touchdown. McClellan finished the job a few drives later, blocking a punt that was recovered inside the 10-yard line by Daylen Austin to set up an Atticus Sappington field goal. It was Oregon's first blocked punt since tight end Kenyon Sadiq had one in 2023 vs. Colorado. On the flip side, Oregon's dynamic offense resulted in a day off for the Ducks' punting unit, UO's first game without a punt since last season at Oregon State.
