EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was announced as the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in the Ducks' double-overtime win at Penn State.
It is the first career Big Ten honor for Moore and second this season for the Ducks. Inside linebacker Jerry Mixon was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following Week 3. Moore shares the award with Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer.
Moore led the Ducks to a thrilling 30-24 win in double overtime at then-No. 3 Penn State last Saturday, completing 29-of-39 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns. It was a career high in completions for Moore, who threw at least three touchdowns for the fourth time in five games.
Moore found tight end Jamari Johnson for a two-yard touchdown in the first overtime to keep the Ducks alive, and then hit wide receiver Gary Bryant for a 25-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the second overtime for what proved to be the game-winning score. Defensive back Dillon Thieneman intercepted a pass on the next play to seal the win for the Ducks.
On the season, Moore ranks fourth nationally with 14 touchdown passes against just one interception. He has completed 100-of-134 passes to tie for sixth in the FBS with a 74.6 completion percentage while throwing for 1,210 yards. Moore ranks seventh among qualified quarterbacks with an 89.1 passing grade from Pro Football Focus this season.
Moore and the No. 2 Ducks (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) are on a bye this week before returning to action with another top-10 matchup next Saturday, Oct. 11, against No. 8 Indiana (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) in Autzen Stadium (12:30 p.m. PT, CBS).
