Men's Tennis Opens Season With a Sweep

EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon opened the 2026 season with a dominant performance, sweeping UC Riverside 7–0 on Friday in a nonconference men's tennis dual match.

The Ducks (1–0) secured the doubles point with convincing wins across all three courts. Declan Galligan and Russell Soohoo set the tone with a 6–1 victory at No. 3 doubles, followed by Matthew Burton and Pierre Mouesca's 6–2 win at the top spot. Vlad Breazu and Cameron Burton completed the sweep with a 6–2 decision at No. 2 to give Oregon an early 1–0 lead.

Oregon carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets or three sets. Breazu rolled past Ivaylo Simeonov 6–2, 6–0 at No. 1 singles, while Mouesca was equally efficient with a 6–1, 6–1 win at No. 2. Matthew Burton added a 6–2, 6–4 victory at No. 3, and Soohoo followed with a 6–2, 6–1 decision at No. 4.
