Ducks Close Weekend with 7-0 Sweep

EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon closed the weekend in dominant fashion Sunday, sweeping UC Riverside 7–0 in Eugene.
The Ducks (2–0) secured the doubles point with convincing wins at the top and bottom of the order before rolling through singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets to complete the shutout of the Highlanders (0–2).
In doubles, Matthew Burton and Pierre Mouesca gave Oregon an early edge with a 6–1 victory at No. 1, while Declan Galligan and Daniel Hughes clinched the point moments later with a 6–0 win at No. 3. The No. 2 doubles match was unfinished with Oregon leading 4–1.
Oregon carried that momentum into singles, where Cameron Burton was the first Duck off the court, earning a 6–1, 6–2 win at No. 5. Matthew Burton followed with a 6–1, 6–2 victory at No. 2, and Mouesca added a 6–3, 6–3 win at the top of the lineup.
Lachlan Robertson posted a straight-set decision at No. 3, Russell Soohoo won at No. 4, and Will Semler closed out the sweep with a 6–4, 6–4 result at No. 6.
