Men's Tennis Falls to Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Oregon came up just short in a tightly contested road match, falling 4-3 to Santa Clara on Saturday at the Degheri Tennis Center.
The Ducks (6-2) won two of three doubles matches to take the opening point and stayed within striking distance throughout singles play, but Santa Clara secured the clinching point in a pair of hard-fought three-set battles.The Ducks' doubles teams of Matthew Burton and Pierre Mouesca, along with Breazu and Declan Galligan, both picked up wins to give Oregon the doubles point. Burton and Mouesca edged Luca Bluett and John Kim 7-5 at No. 1, while Breazu and Galligan earned a 6-4 victory at No. 3.
Oregon's Vlad Breazu provided a strong start in singles, cruising past Alexander Eriksson 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 position. Sam Olszakowski added another point for the Ducks with a straight-set win at No. 4, defeating Lukas Maskow 6-4, 6-3.
Santa Clara answered in singles with wins at Nos. 2, 3, 5 and 6. The final two matches went the distance, including a narrow loss by Lachlan Robertson at No. 5 and a pair of tiebreak setbacks for Cameron Burton at No. 6, as the Broncos sealed the match.
