EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon clinched a narrow 4-3 victory over Utah State on Friday night to stay unbeaten at home this season.
The Ducks (7-2) grabbed the early advantage in doubles with wins on courts two and three. Vlad Breazu and Declan Galligan rolled to a 6-2 victory, while Cameron Burton and Lachlan Robertson secured the point with a 6-4 win. The top doubles match was unfinished with Oregon leading 5-3.
Breazu extended Oregon's lead in singles, taking down Jean-Baptiste Badon 6-2, 6-4 at the top spot. Soohoo followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Emmanuel Alex at No. 6, pushing the Ducks closer to clinching.
Utah State responded with singles victories on courts two, three and four to even the match at 3-3, setting up a deciding point.
Robertson delivered the clincher for Oregon at No. 5, outlasting Jakub Medved in a three-set battle, 7-5, 4-6, 7-5.
