02/12/26 | Softball
PALO ALTO, Calif. – Due to a permitting issue at Stanford's new softball stadium, Stanford University announced a number of changes to the dates, times and opponents for this weekend's Cardinal Classic.
Oregon will now play Cal State Fullerton Friday at 9 a.m. at Santa Clara University in its only game of the day.
Saturday, the Ducks will move to West Valley College in Saratoga, Calif., to face Fullerton at 9:30 a.m.and Kentucky at 12 p.m.
Sunday, Oregon will play No. 13 Stanford at 12 p.m. at West Valley College.
Oregon was supposed to play Cal Poly on Sunday, but the Mustangs withdrew from the tournament.
KWVA radio is still planning on broadcasting all four games unless logistical complications arise. Sunday's game against Stanford will not be live streamed by ACC Network Plus as originally scheduled.
UPDATED CARDINAL CLASSIC SCHEDULE
Fri., Feb. 13, 9 a.m. Oregon vs. Cal State Fullerton Santa Clara University (Santa Clara, Calif.)
Sat., Feb. 14, 9::30 a.m. Oregon vs. Cal State Fullerton West Valley College (Saratoga, Calif.)
Sat., Feb. 14, 12 p.m. Oregon vs. Kentucky West Valley College (Saratoga, Calif.)
Sun., Feb. 15, 12 p.m. Oregon vs. Stanford West Valley College (Saratoga, Calif.)
Statement from Stanford
"This weekend's Cardinal Classic I softball tournament, scheduled to be held at Stanford University from Feb. 12-15, will instead be moved to alternate locations due to finishing work that needs to be completed at the new Stanford Softball Stadium."
"Stanford was not able to complete all of the finishing work necessary to receive a temporary occupancy permit from the County of Santa Clara before last weekend's Stanford Invitational. Because the necessary permitting was not in place, the decision to proceed with the Invitational last weekend was made in error, and after review by university leadership, the decision has been made to move games from this weekend's tournament to San Jose State University and Santa Clara University, along with West Valley College, which hosted two games on Thursday."
"Stanford sincerely regrets the disruption and inconvenience to the student-athletes, coaches, and fans of all of the participating teams. We greatly appreciate the flexibility of these three local institutions in being able to accommodate these teams for competition this weekend."
