
Ducks Fall to No. 11 Northwestern

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's lacrosse team held No. 11 Northwestern scoreless for 10 minutes of play, but fell fast in a 17-3 loss in the second conference game of the season.
The Ducks (6-4, 0-2 Big Ten) could not contain the Wildcats' (6-3, 1-1 Big Ten) offensive attack. Lyla Hurley led Oregon's scoring efforts with a pair of goals, but was not able to keep up with the ranked opponents.
How It Happened: The Duck defense was solid for the first 10 minutes as Viteritti recorded a pair of saves and held Northwestern scoreless. The Wildcats broke through at the end of the first quarter and netted five unanswered scores.
Hurley responded with a score to open the second period on an assist from junior midfielder Lexi Jenkins. Two goals from the sophomore move her to 12 on the season, the fourth most by a Duck this year.
Northwestern went on another 5-0 run through the third quarter, interrupted by a free-position score from Anna Simmons. Simmons is up to 18 scores this year and leads Oregon's offense in scoring and has 50 draw controls this season
Jenkins marked her career high in assists, setting up Hurley's second score of the day in the final minutes of play. Jenkins forced two of Oregon's six caused turnovers, as did midfielder Jadyn Laing. The Wildcats rounded out the offensive onslaught with three more scores to end the game.
Notable: Francesca Viteritti played a complete game with a season-best eight saves on 32 shots faced … Lyla Hurley recorded her second straight game with multiple goals and seventh consecutive game with a score … Hurley has recorded a point in 21 straight games.
