Returns for junior season in 2007-08 as one of nation's most versatile distance runners based on his NCAA performances in track and cross country and strong personal bests from the 1,500m through the 10,000m. Was less than a second shy of his first track All-America honor outdoors in 2007 in the 10,000m and also nearly joined UO's heralded all-time list earlier in the campaign. Was an All-Pac-10 First Team and All-Region cross country selection in fall of 2006. Joined Oregon distance program for 2005-06 season, and redshirted cross country and track seasons due to transfer requirements. Is one of four All-Americans on men's distance squad heading into the 2007-08 campaign on one of the nation's deepest teams. Owns fastest personal best on team in 1,500m (3:41, 2005), and second-best career mark in the 5,000m (13:55.18). Competed at a freshman in 2004-05 for the University of New Mexico and was an All-American in cross country. Also attended high school for three years in Albuquerque and graduated from La Cueva High School in 2004 after a prep All-America prep career.
2006-07: NCAA Qualifier (10,000m). In his debut season for Ducks, scored in all six cross country races and led team once and ranked second in two races. Chosen to All-Pac-10 First Team for his sixth-place Pac-10 Championships finish and helped team stake 14th Pac-10 team victory. Also scored for Ducks in championship slate in the West Regional (20th) and NCAA Championships (98th) as squad finished first and fifth, respectively. Won Duck harrier debut in Pier Park Preview (4 miles - 19:46.7). Added another top-five finish in Bill Dellinger Invitational (fourth, 23:28.2) to boost Ducks to surprise team win over field that featured five NCAA qualifiers. Outdoors in track, made NCAA 10,000m debut (ninth, 29:13.43) ? 14 places higher than his pre-meet seeding. Helped team win Pac-10 track and field team crown with top-eight finishes in 10,000m (third, 29:11.66) and 5,000m (seventh, 14:17.02). Made regional debut in 5,000m (12th, 14:19.88). Earlier in outdoor campaign, ran NCAA provisional mark in 10,000m career debut in Stanford Invitational (29:00.52) - less than three seconds shy of UO's 10th-fastest all-time (Terrence Mahon, 28:57.79) - and ranked second overall on team. Did not compete indoors. Personal/Season Bests: Outdoors - 5,000m - 14:10.83, Pepsi Team Invitational, Eugene (4/7/07); 10,000m - 29:00.52 (PR), Stanford Invitational, Stanford (3/31/07).
2005-06: Redshirted. Competed unattached for UO in three West Coast outdoor meets in 1,500m (1), mile (1) and 5,000, and did not race cross country or indoors. Clocked a two-second personal best in 5,000m in Stanford Invitational (fifth, 13:55.18). In mid-April, kicked to win in Bill McChesney Jr. Memorial Twilight Mile in the Oregon Invitational (4:04.94). Did not race in cross country.
