Hugh Fullagar

Hugh has been with Oregon football since 2015, where he is responsible for the coordination of a sports performance program to assess and enhance athlete readiness, performance, and recovery for student athletes. Hugh’s primary role at Oregon focuses on effectively communicating these data to coaches, players and the performance team to improve on field performance and reduce injury risk.

A native of Australia, Hugh grew up in Wollongong, New South Wales where he completed his Bachelor of Science (Exercise Science) at the University of Wollongong, graduating in 2010. Following this, Hugh pursued his Masters in Science (Research) focused on evaluating the physical demands of firefighters and military personnel. In 2013, Hugh moved to Germany to commence doctoral studies into fatigue and recovery in elite soccer, involving PhD research with various top level European soccer clubs and the Irish Football Association.

At present, Hugh has been widely published in the scientific literature with a specific focus on better understanding the relationship between fatigue, recovery (most notably sleep) and training load in team sport and has presented his work at a variety of conferences around the world. He is a certified Exercise Scientist (ESSA) and accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach (ASCA).
