Baird RBI In Seventh Inning Lifts Ducks to 4-3 Win Over Drake

LAS VEGAS, Nev. ? Oregon junior Dani Baird hit an RBI line drive in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the 21st-ranked University of Oregon softball team to a 4-3 win over Drake at the Las Vegas Classic Saturday afternoon. With the win, Oregon improves to 10-8 overall this season while the Bulldogs fell to 8-2.
Junior Beth Boskovich led Oregon's offense going 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and two intentional walks. Freshman pitcher Alicia Cook improved to 5-3 with the win, striking out four batters and walking just two.
Drake took advantage of an Oregon throwing error the fourth inning to score its first run and later in the inning scored a second unearned run when Jamie Desjarlais stole home safely.
First baseman Beth Boskovich wasted little time tying the game, 2-2, with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Boskovich scored Ashley Richards, who reached on an error by Drake second baseman Shanna Cook. Freshman T.J. Eadus gave Oregon the lead with an RBI single down the left field line, scoring right fielder Dani Baird.
Cook made up for her error in the fifth inning tying the game with an RBI single that scored shortstop Lindsay Larry, but a seventh-inning throwing error by Drake third baseman Katie Wappler set up the Ducks' winning run.
