Ducks Move up to Eighth at Pac-10 Championships

PLEASANTON, Calif.? Oregon shot its second consecutive round of 20-over par, but moved ahead of No. 19 Stanford into eighth place following the second day of the Pac-10 women's golf championships, played at the par-72, 6,304 Ruby Hill Golf Course.
No. 2 UCLA shot a 2-over 290 to widen its lead in the team race to seven strokes. The Bruins finished the day at 579 with No. 20 USC next at 586. No. 6 Arizona State and No. 17 Arizona were tied for third at 589.
No. 22 Washington State was fifth at 592, followed by California (600), No. 8 Washington (602), Oregon (616), Stanford (619) and Oregon State (639).
Junior Erin Andrews led the Ducks with a 74 Tuesday. Overall, the Las Vegas, Nev., native was tied for 25th at 8-over 152. Senior Johnna Nealy shot a second round 75 and was tied for 19th at 152. The Grants Pass, Ore., native will be gunning for her third consecutive top-20 finish at the Pac-10 tournament during Wednesday's final round. Duck freshman Victoria Wenslow shot a 77 Tuesday and was tied with Andrews for 25th at 152.
In the individual race, Washington State's Kim Welch shot a 6-under 66 Tuesday to stand at 8-under 136 for the tournament. The Cougar senior has a three-stroke lead on Arizona's Cassandra Kirkland and UCLA's Susie Mathews.
