The UO women fell just shy of the win with 171 points, a half point behind
Individually, the Ducks accounted for 13 wins (seven women, six men), 21 regional qualifiers (nine women, 12 men), two women's school records, two USA Championships ?A' qualifiers, another ?B' qualifier, and one meet record.
Junior newcomer Lauryn Jordan claimed a pair of wins in the long jump (19-0 1/2w, w:2.7) and triple jump (40-11 3/4, w:-0.8), while the latter mark moved her to fourth all-time for UO in the event.
A pair of Duck throwers ? junior Brittany Hinchcliffe and redshirt senior Bree Fuqua ? rewrote school records in the hammer (199-2) and shot put (53-11 1/4). In her first official season for the Ducks, Hinchcliffe reset the mark previously owned by NCAA hammer qualifier Jordan Sauvage (191-4, 2003), while Fuqua had moved atop the UO list two weeks ago in the Montana Open (53-9).
The All-America duo of Roslyn Lundeen and Elisa Crumley reunited on the javelin runway for the first time in a meet since 2003's NCAA Championships. Lundeen won her season debut (156-5), and Crumley followed in second place (144-9).
On the track, senior Sofie Abildtrup paced the women's sprinters with points in the 4x400 (first, 3:43.10), 200 (second, 24.46), and 4x100 (third, 46.95).
In the 400 hurdles, freshman Kasey Harwood won her collegiate debut at the distance (61.08), just ahead senior teammate and Pac-10 scoring vet Kayla Mellott (second, 61.66). Harwood moved to 10th all-time for the Ducks, and her time was .36 seconds behind Mellott who stands seventh with her 2004 personal best (60.72).
In the distances, redshirt senior Laura Harmon ran a nearly three-second outdoor best in the 3,000 (third, 9:42.77), and redshirt junior Sara Schaaf was less than a second off her personal best in the 800 (fourth, 2:08.52).
Among top overall women's meet performances,
The Men of Oregon scored six wins of their own, spread among the sprints (2), distances (1), hurdles (2) and jumps (1).
Redshirt senior Leonidas Watson won the afternoon's marquee event, the long jump, which featured three of the top six finishers from March's NCAA Indoor Championships. Watson's outdoor best of 25-10 3/4 (w:0.3) from Saturday moved him to seventh all-time for UO, while he added second in the triple jump (50-6 3/4, w:-1.4) behind NCAA indoor champion Aarik Wilson of
The junior hurdle duo of Eric Mitchum and A.K. Ikwuakor doubled up and claimed wins in the 110 hurdles (13.72, w:0.0) and 400 hurdles (PR 51.47), respectively. The pair also claimed regional marks in the opposite hurdle event as Ikwuakor placed second in the 110 hurdles (14.14) only .05 seconds off his PR, and Mitchum staked third in the 400 hurdles (52.20).
Redshirt sophomore Jordan Kent took to the Hayward Field straightaway for the first time since '03, and won the 100 into a headwind (10.63, w:-1.1), while junior UO newcomer Richard Del Rincon took third (10.69).
Also in the sprints, the All-America duo of Matt Scherer and Kedar Inico placed second and third in the 400 in 46.26 and 47.70, respectively. At meet's end they teamed with Travis Anderson and Ikwuakor to win the 4x400 in a meet record and seventh-fastest time in school history (3:07.79).
Redshirt senior Eric Logsdon sped to UO's other victory on the oval in the 3,000 (8:09.74) over UW's Mark Mandi (second, 8:12.99). Duck senior Brett Holts followed with a personal best (third, 8:16.41), just ahead of freshman Scott Wall (fourth, 8:18.50) who made his collegiate debut.
In the 800, senior Roderick Dotts took fourth in his Duck best (1:52.40), while freshman and Eugenean Robert Gillespie clipped off a five-second personal best (sixth, 1:54.20).
