Team's second- fastest returnee in the 100 (10.40) and 200 (20.87) based on his personal bests from 2004 for Cuyamaca College and was a California junior college champion in both events that season. Was just shy of personal bests last year for the Ducks in the 100 (10.4-h, 10.50) and 200 (20.93). Ranks seventh all-time for Oregon outdoors in 200 (20.93), and is only .02 seconds shy in 100 with his Duck best of 10.50.
2004-05: All-American (4x100 Relay). Was team’s top sprint newcomer and helped squad notch its second-ever 4x100 All-America honor and first since 1972 in the NCAA Championships (school record, 39.20). The same quartet also ran a school record in the prelims (39.22) two days before on the NCAA Championships first day. Helped sprint corps key Oregon’s Pac-10 team championship with points in the 100 (fourth, 10.54) and 200 (fifth, 21.27) after he entered the meet ranked ninth and eighth, respectively. Also ran lead-off on then-school record 4x100 in Pac-10 Championships (second, 39.29). Individually, ranked second for Ducks in 100 (10.50) and 200 (20.93), and 14th and 15th in the Regional and 79th and 46th nationally, respectively. On the Pac-10 combined indoor and outdoor season best list, stood 11th and 10th, respectively. Indoors, led squad in 60 (6.73) and ranked second in 200 (21.53) with marks that rank him second and fourth in school history. Before Oregon: Competed two seasons at Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, Calif., (2002-03, 2003-04) after he graduated from Monte Vista High School in La Mesa, California in 2001. Won the California JC title in May of 2004 in the 100 (10.53, 10.40-prelims), and was runner-up in the 200 (21.09, 20.92-prelims). Ran 2004 wind-legal personal bests of 10.40 in the 100 and 20.87 in the 200 in the conference meet, and added a quarter-mile best of 47.92. In 2002, ran season bests of 10.80, 21.58, and 49.70.
Prep: Owned prep bests of 10.82/10.5-hand timed and 21.77/21.7-hand timed. League champion in 100 and 200. All-East County defensive squad selection in football. Honors graduate. High School (Coach): Monte Vista ?01 (Renee Ross).
Personal: Sociology major. His father Ron Sargent played baseball at USIU and Chapman College.
