Sooners Edge Ducks 1-0 In Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. ? In a rematch of the 2005 NCAA Regional Championship game, the 10th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners defeated the 22nd-ranked University of Oregon softball team 1-0 at the Palm Springs Classic in Palm Springs, Calif.
The Ducks (6-5) had five hits to the Sooners' (10-1-1) two, but left seven runners on base in the ninth overall meeting between the two teams. Last season, Oklahoma defeated the Ducks 2-1 at the NCAA Regional Tournament in Norman to advance to the World Series.
Senior pitcher Amy Harris walked the very first batter of the game and then retired the next 13 batters and didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning. With two outs in the fifth, Oklahoma had runners at first and third and successfully called a double steal to score what would become the winning run.
Harris (4-3) finished the game with eight strikeouts and walked just two in her fourth complete game of the season. Oklahoma starter Stacy Braddock had six strikeouts and scattered five hits to improve to 4-1 on the season.
