SAN DIEGO, Calif. – University of Oregon senior Ann Marie Topps hit a two-out home run over the left-centerfield fence in the top of the sixth inning to give the 25th-ranked Ducks their second win of the day and a 3-2 victory over San Diego State Saturday evening in the Aztec Invitational.
The win, coupled with Oregon's 6-1 victory over North Dakota State earlier in the afternoon, improved it's record to 14-1, tying the school record for most consecutive wins at 14 set during the 2004 season. The Ducks trailed the Aztecs 2-1 after four innings before they pushed across an unearned run in the top of the fifth. Joanna Gail reached first base on an error and proceeded to advance to second on the play. Courtney Shlee made it aboard on a fielders choice, advancing Gail to third. After Suzie Barnes lined into a double play, removing Shlee from first, Sari-Jane Jenkins made it to first on a throwing error by the Aztecs' shortstop to score Gail with the tying run.
Elmira junior Alicia Cook allowed five hits and one earned run in seven innings, striking out two and giving up no walks, to improve her record to 8-1.In their first game of the day, the Ducks scored five runs in the bottom of the third before adding a lone tally in the fourth. Redshirt freshman Jennifer Salling led a seven-hit attack, with her 2-3 performance from the plate and two runs scored including her third home run of the season in the fourth inning.

Topps reached base safely on an error by the NDS centerfielder, scoring Chaput and advancing all the way to third base herself. Topps then scored on a double to right centerfield by Kristi Leiter.
