
Key Leads Johns Hopkins Over Ducks, 20-4

BALTIMORE -- Johns Hopkins' senior Mary Key broke three school records as her 13 point effort led the No. 13 Blue Jays over the No. 20 Ducks, 20-4 Saturday afternoon.
Key finished with six goals and seven assists in the game. She broke the Hopkins' Division I single-game record for points, the Hopkins D-I career goals record and the Hopkins all-time career assists record. Key ended the game with 200 career goals and 125 career assists for 325 career points. She now ranks tied for seventh in NCAA D-I history in points and sixth in assists.
The loss ends the Ducks four-game winning streak and drops them to 7-4 on the year, while Hopkins improve to 5-3.
Junior co-captains Theresa Waldron and Jen May led the Ducks' effort, with Waldron scoring two goals and May tallying two assists.
The Blue Jays jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Waldron got the Ducks on the board, but a 14-0 Blue Jay run which would extend into the beginning of the second half was too much for the Ducks to overcome.
Casey Rector and Jana Bradley also added goals for the Ducks in the second half, along with Waldron's second goal.
Rector also taliied an assist, as did senior transfer Brooke Dieringer.
The Ducks were outshot 35-13 on the afternoon, while the Blue Jays also kept the momentum of the game in their favor by controlling 20 draws to Oregon's six.
Oregon's freshman goalkeeper, Sam Debow, made five saves.
The Ducks return to action on on Wednesday as they continue their spring break road trip visiting Columbia at 2 p.m.
