MORAGA, Calif. -- Ilsa van den Berg had a hat trick and two assists and Jana Bradley tallied a hat trick for the second consecutive day as the Ducks defeated the St. Mary's Gaels, 15-7, Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Ducks (11-5, 4-0) remain in first place in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and set up a showdown with No. 17 Denver (13-2, 3-0), Saturday, April 21, with the conference regular season title on the line.
"I was once again pleased by the overall performance from the entire team," head coach Jen Larsen said. "We are looking forward to taking a week to prepare for Denver and it should be an intense week of practice leading up to the game."
The Ducks opened the game with a 9-0 run that absorbed all but 4:00 of the first half and rode the lead for the afternoon as the Ducks would play their entire available roster.
Van den Berg's five points led the Ducks, as nine players tallied as least one point in the effort. Senior transfer Brooke Dieringer and Junior Jen May added two goals and an assist.
Junior Theresa Waldron tied van den Berg for the team lead in assists, as they both had two helpers.
Redshirt sophomore Anna Poponyak started the game for the Ducks, but was pulled only 18:10 into the game after the Ducks scored their sixth goal of the afternoon. Popnyak, who did not give up a goal, was replaced by freshman Sam Debow, who made 11 saves while allowing the seven Saint Mary's goals.
The Ducks outshot the Gaels 37-25 for the game and once again controlled possession by winning 14 of the 23 draw controls.
