Kosinki Added to Ducks' List of NCAA Automatic Qualifirs While Men Claim Team Title

Kosinski posted a winning time of 4-minutes, 39.54 seconds to secure an automatic bid in the NCAA Track and Field Indoor Championships March 14-15 in
“She certainly was one of the high points today and she ran fantastic,” Associate Head Coach Dan Steele said. “Nicole (Blood) deserves a lot of the credit for going out hard at the start of the race and taking Alex with her. But at the end, she really looked great and ran away from the rest of the field.”

Sophomore Zoe Buckman also made a strong case for a trip to the NCAA indoor meet with a second-place finish in the 800 with a personal indoor best of 2:06.88 ? a mark that stands less than two seconds shy of the NCAA automatic qualifying standard.
The women's effort was good enough to pace the Ducks to third place in the team standings with 72 points.

“We were very pleased with our effort today,” Steele said. “I think it shows what kind of potential we have on the men's side for the outdoor season. We have a lot of depth and a lot of talented kids.”

The men's 4x400 quartet of Ashton Eaton, Chad Barlow, Phillip Alexander and Marcus Dillon shaved almost two seconds off their previous NCAA provisional qualifying time, finishing second with a mark of 3:07.13.
“We took the No. 2 team in the country right to the wire,” Steele emphasized. “I think it will be good enough to get in (the NCAA meet). You can never be sure but I feel good about it,” Steele said of the time that would be good enough for fourth in the country at the start of the weekend.
