Oregon Edges Vermont 12-11 in OT

BURLINGTON, Vt. - For the fifth time this season, the Oregon lacrosse team recorded a victory with just a one-goal advantage, defeating Vermont 12-11 in overtime at Moulton Winder Field on Friday afternoon.
The win improves the Ducks' record to 11-5 on the season, while the Catamounts fall to 7-8.
Oregon was led by an all-star performance from senior Theresa Waldron. The senior attacker led the way with six points, scoring two goals while tacking on four assists. Senior midfielder Jen May added three goals for Oregon while also helping control possession by winning five draw controls. Junior attacker Ilsa van den Berg added two goals and two assists in the victory.
Oregon held a 4-2 lead with eight minutes to go in the first half, but Vermont stepped up its offense scoring five of the last six goals to end the period with a 7-5 advantage.
The Ducks opened the second half scoring the first three goals and with 5:40 to go in regulation, van den Berg tied the game with the assist coming from Jenny Browne to send the game into overtime.
Junior defender Cara Mead notched the game winner with 1:05 remaining in OT.
Sara Buxton led Vermont with three goals.
Anna Poponyak led Oregon in goal with 14 saves.
The Ducks finish their season at 15th-ranked New Hampshire on Sunday. The MPSF Tournament begins on Wednesday, April 30.
