Bristow & Little Pace Ducks in Regional Finale

SACRAMENTO, Calif. ? The No. 44 University of Oregon women's golf team climbed another position into 13th place Saturday in the third and final round of the NCAA West Regional, thanks to its score of 301 on the Lincoln Hills Golf Course.
The Ducks' three-round tally of 901 (303-297-301) gave them an overall score of 901 ? only nine strokes out of eighth place ? the final slot that advanced to the NCAA Championships in two weeks.
On the par 72, 6,338-yard course, freshman Kendra Little maintained the top overall position among UO's entries (17th-tie, 71-75-74-220) and had Oregon's second-lowest score of the day ? one stroke behind junior Cathryn Bristow (35th-tie, 77-73-73-223).
Little finished only two strokes behind the second of the two individual NCAA qualifiers - Erica Moston of San Jose State (73-74-71-218) - while Angela King of Stanford claimed the other position (11th-tie, 73-73-71-217).
The Ducks also counted scores Saturday from sophomore Felicia Eastick (56th-tie, 76-74-78-228) and freshman Erica Omlid (80th-t, 79-77-76-232), and UO's contingent also included sophomore Kate Hildahl (86th-t, 79-75-80-234).
Bristow's low rounds for UO the last two days were the 14th and 15th of the season among her 36 overall in 2007-08. Little's team-low first round Thursday (71) was her 13th this season where she paced the team and her 14th of par or better. Her top-20 finish was her eighth in 12 events this year to go along with two more top-25 placings and another top-30 effort.
In the overall standings, No. 2 USC extended its lead on the field by 18 strokes to win by 25 strokes (283-288-284-855), and No. 4 Arizona State followed in second place (296-285-289-870).
No. 47 UNLV (third, 288-290-301-879) followed in third place, and other NCAA team qualifiers included No. 12 Arizona (fourth, 299-289-292-880), No. 14 Oklahoma State (fifth-tie, 293-293-296-882), No. 7 Arkansas (fifth-tie, 291-297-294-882), No. 28 Tulsa (seventh, 287-308-289-884) and UC Davis (eighth, 300-296-296-892). The Aggies broke a three-way tie at 892 with No. 36 Ohio State (299-298-295-892) and No. 23 Stanford (295-298-299-892)for the final NCAA qualifying spot.
On the individual leaderboard, UNLV's second-day leader Therese Koelbaek tied for first place (69-68?73-210) with Arizona's Alison Walshe (68-73-69-210). USC's Stefanie Endstrasser (71-71-69-211) and Azahara Munoz (69-71-71-211) trailed in a tie for third place.

Saturday's NCAA qualifying teams and individuals from the regionals in Sacramento, Georgia and Texas now look ahead to the NCAA Championships, hosted by New Mexico State University, Tuesday-Friday, May 20-23, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Oregon made its fourth regional trip as a team under eighth-year head coach Shannon Rouillard, and has finished 13th or better in each of those trips, including ninth in '01, eighth in '04 and 10th in '05. UO also qualified an individual, Kathy Cho, in '02 (63rd, 237).
