Omlid Tops No. 32 Ducks in Ihlanfeldt Opener

SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Junior Erica Omlid paced the No. 32 -ranked University of Oregon women's golf team Monday in Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational first-round action hosted by the University of Washington at the Sahalee Country Club.
The Springfield, Ore., native shot a seven-over 79 on the par-72 6,136-course and was tied for 26th overall. She paced the Ducks for the first time this season and third time in her 49 career collegiate rounds.
Ranking top-two on the team for the third time the last four rounds, freshman Cheyenne Hickle followed two strokes back (38th-t, 81), and UO's other scorers included junior Kendra Little (49th-t, 82) and senior Kate Hildahl (57th-t, 84). UO's contingent was rounded out by junior Monika Graf (62nd, 86).
For the day, three Ducks carded birdies – Little (2 – par-5 #2 & 18), Hickle (1 – par-5 #11) and Omlid (1 – par-3 #13)
Team-wise, UO stood 11th (326) in the 13-team field that featured only one sub-300 round turned in by California (first, 296). Other teams in the top five include No. 57 San Francisco (second, 301), No. 24 Stanford (third, 308), No. 45 San Jose State (fourth, 309) and Washington (fifth, 310), while the highest-ranked team in the field, No. 8 Pepperdine, followed in sixth place (311).
On the individual front, San Francisco's Natasha Podmore led the field by one stroke with her even par 72, and five players were tied for second one-over scores of 73.
