Little Tops No. 41 Ducks in Turtle Bay Second Round

KAHUKU, Hawai'i – The No. 41-ranked University of Oregon women's golf team stood in seventh place after Tuesday's second-round action in the Turtle Bay Collegiate Invitational.
The Ducks dropped two spots in the overall standings (seventh, 292-303-595) in the 18-team field. Overall, No. 27 UC Davis (281-290-571) continued to lead by six strokes over No. 10 California (second, 290-287-577), No. 1 UCLA (third-tie, 292-289-581), No. 8 USC (third-tie, 291-290-581), No. 38 San Jose State (fifth, 288-297-585) and Long Beach State (sixth, 296-295-591).
Individually on the par-72 6,535-yard Turtle Bay Resort course, junior Kendra Little held onto her same place as the opening round (sixth-tie, 71-71-142). UO's other three scorers Tuesday included sophomore Ashley Edwards (18th-t, 74-73-147), senior Kate Hildahl (38th-t, 73-79-152) and junior Erica Omlid (65th-t, 76-80-156), and its other entrant, junior Monika Graf stood tied for 57th overall (74-81-155).
For comparison's sake, here were Oregon's first-round individual placings and scores from Monday - Little (sixth-tie, 71) Hildahl (18th-t, 73), Graf (23rd-t, 74), Edwards (23rd-t, 74) and Omlid (43rd-t, 76).
Little's team-best, second-round score was her second of the tourney and eighth in 11 rounds this fall, and 35th overall among her 77 career rounds. The Eugene native also enjoyed her seventh score of par or better this fall and 25th career-wise.
Glancing at Tuesday's Duck scorecards, Little led the way with her four birdies (on the par-5 #4 and 17, par-4 #9 and par-3 #2 holes). Edwards added two birdies (on the par-4 #14 and 18 holes), and Hildahl had Oregon's other on the day (on the par-4 #9). Hildahl led Monday's birdie count with her four, and others with first-round birdies included Little (3), Edwards (2), Graf (2) and Omlid (1).
Overall on the individual leaderboard Tuesday, Demi Runas improved a place and took the lead by one stroke (68-69-137), ahead of UCLA's Stephanie Kono and USC's Lizette Salas who were tied for second place with exactly similar scores (71-67-138).

Looking ahead, UO returns for a final 18-hole round Wednesday, and tee times begin between 7:30-9:30 a.m. Hawai'i time (which is two hours behind Pacific Standard Time).
