EUGENE, Ore. -- Sophomore center Michael Dunigan had 16 points and 10 rebounds and the University of Oregon men's basketball team used a late run to pull away from Oakland for a 72-60 victory Saturday night at McArthur Court. The win was the Ducks second consecutive, improving their season mark to 6-4 overall. The Golden Grizzlies fell to 6-6 on the season.
Sophomore guard Malcolm Armstead and sophomore forward Jeremy Jacob scored 12 points each for the Ducks, who shot 47.5 percent from the field (28-of-59). Oregon made 4-of-11 on 3-pointers (36.4 percent), while hitting 12-of-19 on free throws (63.2 percent).

The Ducks jumped out to the early lead, highlighted by a key sequence from freshman forward Jamil Wilson which gave Oregon an 11-7 advantage at the 14:25 mark in the half. Wilson stole the in-bounds pass, dribbled down to the opposite free throw line, before pulling up and sinking the 15-foot jumper. Less than two minutes later it was Wilson making another impact basket, burying a 3-pointer from the corner to give UO a 16-10 lead at the 12:33 mark.
Oregon maintained an 8-0 edge in points in the paint over the first nine minutes, led by Dunigan who had six points and three rebounds over that span.
Jacob entered the game at the 9:45 mark in the stanza, converting on two quick baskets to put the Ducks up nine points with eight minutes in the half. Jacob then converted a 3-point play, giving Oregon a 28-20 lead with 6:44 in the half.
Oakland was closing the half on a 11-4 run, but sophomore forward Drew Wiley hit a 3-pointer with four seconds in the half to secure the Ducks a 36-31 lead at the break. Dunigan had 10 points and five rebounds, while Jacob added eight points to lead the Ducks in the first. Those two players combined to give UO an 18-10 advantage in points in the paint.
The opening minutes of the second half were played evenly. Jacob grabbed an offensive board and converted a short turn-around jumper to give UO a 42-36 lead with 15:11 remaining in the game. Oakland rallied with a 5-0 run over the next two minutes, capped by a 3-pointer from Drew Maynard, to pull within one point at 42-41.
Armstead made a floater in the lane, and then assisted on back-to-back Teondre Williams' break-aways, propelling Oregon on a 6-0 run and a 50-44 lead with 8:25 in the game. The second break-away resulted in a one-handed tomahawk jam by the high-flying Williams.
The Ducks rolled-off eight unanswered points from 7:40 to 5:39 in the half, forcing OU to call a timeout after a run-out lay-up from Armstead. During the run, the Ducks hit back-to-back 3-pointers, the first a shot from the corner by sophomore guard Garrett Sim and the second a long jumper near the top of the arc from Wilson.
