No. 17 Ducks Open Action in Ihlanfeldt Invite

TACOMA, Wash. – The No. 17 University of Oregon women's golf team ranked ninth Monday after the first round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational hosted by Washington at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club.
With only four Duck players finishing with scores, No. 17 Oregon was tied for ninth place with Gonzaga at 307.
Overall in the 14-team field, No. 13 California (284) held a one-stroke lead over No. 2 USC (second, 285). Other teams in the top five included No. 54 Washington (third, 293), No. 16 UC Davis (298) and No. 40 Stanford (fifth, 299).
On the par 72, 6,078-yard course, Oregon counted scores from senior Kendra Little (14th-tie, 74), sophomore Cheyenne Hickle (23rd-tie, 75), senior Erica Omlid (30th-tie, 76) and junior Ashley Edwards (62nd-tie, 82).
Little posted Oregon's low score for the second round this season and 44th time in her career.
The Eugene, Ore., native carded three birdies on the par-3 third and 15th and par-4 eighth holes, and Hickle and Omlid added a pair of birdies, too.
Overall on the individual leaderboard, the California duo of Emily Childs and Joanne Lee were tied with USC's Sophia Popov with four-under scores of 68, while three other players broke par Monday.
