STANFORD, Calif. – In its fall season finale, the No. 27 University of Oregon women's golf team improved four positions to 14th place (307-306-298-911) in the third and final round of the Pac-10 / SEC Challenge Sunday at the Stanford Golf Course.
Oregon shot the round's fifth-best score with its 14-over 298 – also its 12th sub-300 effort in 15 overall this fall.
Even more impressive, a two-hour mid-round weather delay didn't stop the Ducks from posting their best round of the tourney by eight strokes in the field that that featured seven top-10 teams among the 17 ranked top 40 this week by Golfstat.
Overall in the team standings, No. 5 UCLA logged the best score for the third straight round, and won by 11 strokes over No. 3 Alabama (second, 289-286-292-867). No. 2 USC climbed seven spots to follow in third place (294-291-290-875), just ahead of No. 13 Arizona (fourth, 286-292-299-877) and No. 26 Auburn (fifth, 286-289-304-879).
Individually for UO, senior Kendra Little posted her second top-10 effort of the season and 14th of her career after she improved 25 places on the par-71 course (10th-t, 76-72-68-216).
Overall, the Eugene, Ore., native led UO for the sixth round this season and 48th time in her career, and was the top Duck finisher in an event's final standings for the third time this fall and 19th time career-wise.
Junior Ashley Edwards improved 21 places Sunday and tied her best round of the tourney (47th-t, 73-80-73-226). Freshman Raphaela Dyer followed in a tie for 50th (76-74-77-227), and UO's other entries included sophomore Avery Sills (100th-t, 82-81-80-243) and senior Monika Graf (102nd, 85-80-80-245).
One of only five players among the 108 on hand to shoot an under-par score Sunday, Little carded five birdies (#3, 7, 12, 14, 18), 11 par scores (#1, 4-6, 8-11, 13, 15, 17) and two bogeys (#2, 16).
Three other Ducks logged single birdies Sunday - Edwards (1), Graf (1) and Sills (1).
Overall on the individual leaderboard, USC's Sophia Popov shot the best score of the round and climbed five places and won by one stroke (72-68-67-207) over UCLA's Stephanie Kono (second, 73-67-68-208).
Sunday's event wrapped up the Ducks' fall slate, and UO returns to action next February in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic (2/13-14) at Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
