Cardinal Defeat Oregon, 72-65

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Landry Fields scored 21 points, Jeremy Green added 18 and Stanford won on the road for the first this year with a 72-65 victory against Oregon on Thursday night.
Green scored all of his points in the second half, going 3 of 10 from the field but 10 of 10 from the foul line. He had 11 points in a 17-2 run that put the Cardinal up 59-43 with 9:07 remaining.
Jack Trotter had 14 points and Drew Shiller 12 for Stanford (12-14, 6-8 Pac-10), which lost 10 previous road games this season.
Jeremy Jacob scored 19 points and E.J. Singler 15 for the Ducks (12-13, 4-9), who dropped their fourth straight.
Fields, the Pac-10's leading scorer, was 7 of 14 from the field and 6 of 6 from the line.
POSTGAME NOTEBOOK
FIRST TIME STARTERS: The starting line-up of Malcolm Armstead, Tajuan Porter, Matt Humphrey, Jeremy Jacob and EJ Singler was the first time those five began a game this season.
JACOB TIES CAREER HIGH: Jeremy Jacob scored the first six points for the Ducks against Stanford. The sophomore forward, who made his sixth straight start, finished with 19 points and 8 rebounds. His 19 points tied a career-high. He led all Ducks with both 10 points and five rebounds at halftime. Jacob has now scored 88 points in the last eight games, an 11 points per game scoring average.
SINGLER HITS CAREER MARK: E.J. Singler scored a career-high 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds. His rebound total was second-highest for the freshman this season. He grabbed 12 boards against Oakland. His previous career-high in scoring was 12 points against Saint Mary's.
NOT SO FAST: The Ducks and Cardinal combined for just eight fouls in the first half and took only two free throws each, making both. But in the second half, with the game close, the fouls came often. Stanford finished 19-of-23 from the line while Oregon hit a perfect 12-of-12 at the charity stripe. The two teams combined for 31 fouls in the game and 23 in the second half.
A RALLY JUST SHORT: After going scoreless for 4:57, the Ducks were down 16 as Stanford led 59-43 with 8:46 left in the 2nd half. The Ducks staged an 18-6 run over the next 6:06 to cut the Cardinal lead to just four at 65-61. But Stanford outscored Oregon 7-4 in the last 1:52 to put the game away.
HUMPHREY COMING ON STRONG: After missing 12 games with a knee injury earlier in the season, Matt Humphrey has scored 58 total points, good for 9.7 points per game.
