Ducks Close Freeman Memorial With Three Victories

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of Oregon women's tennis team closed the Doug Freeman Memorial on a high note by winning three matches on Sunday.
Lana Buttner and Patricia Skowronski closed the tournament with singles victories while Skowronski and Pavlina Smatova teamed up for a doubles win to take the consolation bracket in flight one.
“This was a very good final day for us,” head coach Paul Reber said. “Winning two of our three singles and splitting our doubles. Pavlina and Patricia ended up winning the consolation doubles in flight one. Both Patricia and Lana played very good tennis today and that's exactly what we need for our home opener on Friday.”
Skowronski defeated UNLV's Jana Albers (6-4, 6-4) and Buttner outdueled UNLV's Ella Bourchier (6-2, 6-0) in singles play.
Oregon opens up its dual season by hosting Portland State on Friday. Complete tournament results are below.
