12/05/11 | Women's Basketball
The Ducks (7-1) were paced behind double-doubles by sophomore Danielle Love and senior Amanda Johnson, as Oregon led from start to finish except for one tie in the first half.
For Love, it was just the second double-double of her career as she scored a career-high 16 points along with a career-best five assists in addition to her 10 rebounds. Johnson recorded her sixth double-double of the year with game highs in points (23) and rebounds (13).
Portland (5-4) was allowed to climb back into the game behind three-straight three-pointers in the final minute, but Oregon was put on the free-throw line three times in the final 19 seconds. Sophomore Ariel Thomas, Johnson and Love all knocked down a pair of free throws to halt any chance of the Pilots scoring an upset.
In addition to Love and Johnson, senior Jasmin Holliday also finished the game in double figures with 20 points, knocking down a career-best three three-pointers.
After Love tallied a three-pointer at the 17:11 minute mark of the second half to put UO up by a game-high 19 points, Portland went on a tough 23-8 run to pull within four of the Ducks.
But Oregon responded with a 17-8 run to push their lead out 13 points at 80-67.
Oregon was up by 13 at the half, 46-33, capped off by a made three-pointer at the buzzer by senior Nia Jackson.
The Ducks and Pilots combined to knock down 27 buckets from behind the arc, and attempt 66 long-range shots, as both marks were new Oregon single-game records. The Ducks 12 made three-pointers also tied a season high.
Oregon shot 43 percent from the field on 30-for-70 attempts and was sent to the charity strip 23 times, knocking down 70 percent with 16 makes. The Pilots made 10 trips to the free throw line and made five, good for a 50 percent mark. The Ducks only fouled a season-low seven times in the contest.
Johnson and Holliday have each reached double figures in all eight games this season and with her total, Johnson notched her fourth 20-point game of the year.
The Pilots recorded five in double figures, led by ReZina Teclemariam's 20 points and game-high seven assists. Teclemariam fueled UP's offense with a 6-of-11 performance from behind the arc.
Oregon takes the week off for finals before heading out on the road to play Denver (Dec. 11) and Nevada (Dec. 14).
Oregon will close the non-conference portion of its schedule at Matthew Knight Arena hosting Cal State Northridge (Dec. 19) and Saint Mary's (Dec. 21).
