COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 20 University of Oregon volleyball team (2-0) stayed perfect in the Sports Import DC Kohl Classic with a 25-18, 25-19, 25-11 blanking of Houston (0-3) Saturday afternoon at St. John Arena.

In the first-ever meeting between the two teams, UO hit +.300 and held its opponent before .150 for the second straight match (.344 / .108).

UO also held advantages in kills (47-24), digs (35-21) and aces (7-2), while UH owned a 8.0-3.0 blocking edge.

Among Duck individual match highs, junior middle blocker Ariana Williams and sophmore outside hitter Liz Brenner both hit .500 and ended with 10 and nine kills, respectively.

Williams added an ace and two block assists to pace the team in the latter category.

In two sets of play, senior outside hitter Katherine Fischer landed three aces among her 17 attempts and posted eight kills, a .429 hitting mark and a team-high 11 digs.

Duck head coach Jim Moore ergularly rotated his line-up, and two other hitters ended with seven or more kills in two sets of action - All-America senior Alaina Bergsma (7K, .357, 5 digs) and freshman Martenne Bettendorf (8 kills, .312).

Senior libero Haley Jacob added five digs, as did junior setter Lauren Plum who also notched 25 assists in 2 1/2 sets of duty.

For Houston, category leaders included Chandace Tryon (8 kills, .300, 5 blocks, 12 points), Meredith Ware (5 digs), Abby Simmons (5 digs, 1 ace) and Olivia O'Dell (1 ace).

Looking ahead, Oregon returns to action at 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time in the tournament finale vs. No. 24 Ohio State (2-0).
