FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 8 University of Oregon softball team (20-4) saw its 13-game win streak come to an end with its 2-1 loss to Iowa State (10-9) Saturday morning in the Fresno State Classic.

The two teams were scoreless through the fifth inning, before UO scored its lone run in the sixth.

Junior shortstop Courtney Ceo led off with a single up the middle, and after a fly ball to right field marked the second out, she tagged and beat the throw to second base. Three pitches later, she easily scored on a single up the middle by sophomore Janie Takeda.

UO nearly tied the game in the seventh, when after two outs, freshman left fielder Danica Mercado and senior right fielder Samantha Pappas walked to put runners on first and second base.

Ceo drilled a hard grounder down the first base line that the first baseman lunged and barely nabbed, then touched the bag to end the game.

For the game, Ceo (3-for-4) led UO in hits with her 11th multi-hit game of the season and tied her career high for hits in a game.

Takeda (2-for-3) also collected multiple hits, and Pappas (1-for-4) also singled safely once.

Junior first Kailee Cuico saw her team-high 18-game hitting streak come to an end with her 0-for-3 day after she grounded out once and flew out twice.

Takeda now owns the team's longest current hitting streak - a nine-game streak - and dCeo is just behind her with an eight-game run.

Senior Jessica Moore (11-3) pitched the first 5.2 innings, struck out three, walked two, allowed eight hits, and both of her runs allowed were earned.

Iowa State scored both of its runs in the sixth inning, and still had the bases loaded with two outs. Freshman Cheridan Hawkins was called in and notched a strikeout of the Cyclone's #2 hitter Brittany Gomez to end the inning.

Earlier in the inning, the Cyclones laced pair of singles among the first three at-bats, and a hit by pitch loaded the bases. The next batter, Lexi Slater singled home the first run, and a fielder's choice grounder by Maddie Reese to the shortstop scored the next run.

Iowa State starter Tori Torrescano (5-3) pitched the complete game, struck out four, walked two, allowed six hits, and her run allowed was earned.

Looking ahead, the Ducks plays St. Mary's in its final game of the tourney at 1:30 p.m. at Bulldog Diamond.
