STANFORD, Calif. – The doubles team of Nia Rose and Alyssa Tobita won their round of 32 doubles match at the USATA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships at Stanford on Saturday morning by a score of 8-4 over Jelena Lazarevic and Lucia Butkovska of Portland.
The two Duck freshmen are now a perfect 6-0 in the fall tournament season. The pair from Portland competed in the same tournament as the Ducks did last weekend – the WSU Invitational – and also went 4-0 in the No. 1 Doubles division. The two Pilots did not play Rose and Tobita in Pullman because of the partial-round robin format.
Nicole Long and Marlou Kluiving dropped their doubles match to Marina Nikolic and Andrea Ka of San Francisco, 8-6.
Rose was the only Duck still in the singles main bracket, and the freshman lost in the round of 32 to Lucia Butkovska of Portland, 6-3, 6-0.
Kluiving won her consolation singles match, 7-5, 6-4 over Cal Poly's Molly Reed. Tobita lost, 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (4), to Jamie Pawid of Saint Mary's.
Allie Hueffner and Lina Åkesson won their doubles consolation match against Washington State's Holly Monahan and Grace Lymer-Sullivan by a score of 8-3.
Next Up: Rose and Tobita will play in the doubles round of 16 tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
