Isagawa Fires a 1-Over 72 To Pace UO at Stanford Tourney
10/18/14 | Women's Golf
STANFORD, Calif. – The Ducks fired a 296 in the first day of the Stanford Intercollegiate at the Stanford Golf Course on Friday afternoon. Oregon sits in a tie for 14th place with Oregon State, and Cassy Isagawa led UO with a 1-over 72.
How It Happened: Isagawa started of the first seven holes on fire. The senior birdied the first hole, pared the next five and then eagled the par-5 seventh. Her eagle was the first for any Duck so far in the fall season.
She double-bogeyed the ninth hole to finish the front nine with a 1-under 34. The Wailuku, Hawaii, shot a 2-over 38 on the back, but her 72 is still a season-low halfway into the fall tournament season.
Caroline Inglis was 2-over on the front and even-par on the back for a solid 73. She was plagued by the last four holes of the front nine – three-over during that stretch – but nine pars in a row on the back nine allowed her to turn in the team's second best round.
Kelsey Ulep finished with a 75 and Cali Hipp recorded a 76 to round out the four counting scores for Oregon. Both Ducks finished the round out strong with Hipp birdieing two of the last three holes and Ulep birdieing No. 18.
Cathleen Santoso began the round, but the sophomore was unable to finish due to illness.
UCLA is currently in first place after shooting a 5-under 279. Bronte Law of UCLA leads the field with a first-round, 6-under 65.
Tomorrow's Action: UO will compete with players from Oregon State and Georgia tomorrow morning. The Ducks will tee off on the back nine with Hipp leading off at 9:24 a.m.
