KIRKLAND, Wash. – Daan Maasland claimed the PNW Intercollegiate flight one singles title Sunday afternoon at the Central Park Tennis Center with a straight-set victory over Emmett Egger of Washington 6-0, 7-5. The victory gives the Ducks two singles titles on the fall season.
“Daan played a complete match from start to finish,” associate head coach Jonas Piibor said. “I challenged him during his semifinal match and he responded great and continued his momentum into the final.”
Maasland – a junior from Geldrop, Netherlands – finishes the fall season with a 5-2 record in singles play. His victory over Egger gives him four-straight victories to conclude the fall season dating back to the ITA Northwest Regional Championship.
“It was a great win over a good Husky opponent,” Piibor said.
Joey Swaysland dropped a consolation match to Boise State's Toby Mitchell 6-3, 6-3.
Next Up: With the fall season over, the Ducks will continue practicing over the next couple months and prepare for their spring season beginning in January. UO's spring schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
