BROOKLYN ? In a match that once again utilized the entire lineup, the Oregon volleyball team continued its undefeated streak by beating LIU Brooklyn, 25-9, 25-10, 24-26, 25-17, Monday night.
How It Happened: All 14 traveling players saw significant playing time in the match which moved the Ducks to 4-0, including all five Oregon freshmen. Oregon's ability to use their depth in the early going has allowed different stars to emerge each night. Monday was Taylor Agost's night as the sophomore finished with a career high 16 kills while hitting .520.
The Ducks won the first two sets in quick fashion, hitting .500 in the first set and .429 in the second set. That efficiency would drop in the third set as LIU stole a set 26-24 before the Ducks returned to form and closed out the match in the fourth.
Agost was one of three Ducks in double-digit kills, joined by Frankie Shebby (15) and Lindsey Vander Weide (10) though the two were not quite as efficient, hitting .243 and .353, respectively. Oregon continued its stifling defense, holding its opponent to under .100 hitting efficiency (.062) for the third time this season.
What it Means: Although the Blackbirds snapped Oregon's streak of 11 straight set wins, Oregon was quick to get back on track as the starters returned to the court for the fourth set.
