01/13/16 | Acrobatics & Tumbling
EUGENE – The Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team's 2016 home meet against Baylor will air on Pac-12 Networks on March 31 at 7 p.m. PT, it was announced Wednesday. It will mark the first televised meet in NCATA history.
“This is very exciting for not only the visibility, but more importantly the growth of the sport around the country,” Oregon head coach Chelsea Shaw said. “We are looking forward to seeing how this exposure continues to allow us to reach a broader audience.”
Two of the top programs in collegiate acrobatics and tumbling, the Ducks and Bears have combined to win each of the last five NCATA titles with Oregon winning four consecutive from 2011-2014. The meet will be a rematch of the 2015 NCATA finals in which Baylor defeated the Ducks, 286.690-282.870.
Head coach Chelsea Shaw returns 28 athletes from a 2015 campaign that saw the Ducks go 7-4 and make their fifth-straight appearance in the final round of the NCATA Championships. This offseason, Shaw also announced the addition of assistant coaches Nicole Rodenbach and Kelsea Wells to her staff.
The Ducks open the 2016 schedule with Concordia Wisconsin on Feb. 7 in Concordia, Wis. Oregon's first home meet of the season will be Feb. 13 when the Ducks host Hawaii Pacific at Matthew Knight Arena.
