Ducks Drop Utah on Senior Day

EUGENE – The Oregon men's tennis team picked up its second straight win on Sunday afternoon, shutting out Utah, 4-0, on Senior Day at the Student Tennis Center.
How It Happened: The Ducks (15-4, 2-2) picked up their 13th straight doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Jayson Amos and Armando Soemarno struck first taking down Utah's Matt Cowley and Dan Little, 6-2.
Cormac Clissold and Thomas Laurent clinched the point for Oregon with a 6-4 win over Egbert Weverink and Freddie McGeehan. The win is the Duck duo's 12th straight win.
In singles, the Ducks got three quick straight-set wins over Utah to seal up the team's 15th win of the season.
Amos started it off with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Weverink on No. 4 to give the junior his team-leading 23rd win. Stevens took a second-set tiebreaker to seal up a 6-1, 7-6(4) win on No. 2 to extend the Oregon lead to 3-0 and put the Ducks a win away from the clincher.
It was Ethan Young-Smith that clinched the win for Oregon, tallying a 7-5, 6-3 win over Jamey Swiggart on No. 6.
Up Next: The Ducks head to Stockton, Calif., this Wednesday for a midweek tilt with Pacific at 1 p.m.
