
Kahfiani Opens Tournament Play For The Ducks

Sophomore Rifanty Kahfiani opened the ITA All-American Championships for the Ducks Saturday in the pre-qualifying bracket.
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Oregon women's tennis sophomore Rifanty Kahfiani kicked off the 2017-18 season for the Ducks Saturday at the ITA All-American Championships in California.
In her first appearance in the prestigious tournament, the Indonesian international won her opening match of the pre-qualifying bracket in a three set thriller. After winning the opening set, Kentucky's Mami Adachi fought back to force a deciding third set, but Kahfiani was able to pull out the victory 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 to head in to the second round of play.
Kahfiani's singles run was cut short in the next round as Loyola-Marymount's Eva Marie Voracek took the match by a score of 6-4, 6-1.
Kahfiani now looks ahead to doubles play as she and senior Alyssa Tobita open the tournament, along with partners Shweta Sangwan and Julia Eshet, in the qualifying bracket beginning Tuesday (Oct. 3).
Tobita and Sangwan open singles tournament play this coming Tuesday as well in the qualifying bracket.
