CHICAGO - The Oregon women's golf team finished the first two rounds of the Windy City Collegiate at 33-over par on Monday at Northmoor Country Club and will look for a strong finish in Tuesday's final round.
How it Happened: The Ducks shot a 13-over 297 in the first round of stroke play, but dropped seven strokes in the second round for a 20-over 304. Oregon is in 14th overall with 18 holes to play, and Oklahoma State leads the 15-team field at 8-under par.
Junior Kathleen Scavo finished as the top Duck after two rounds, carding a pair of 2-over 73s to sit at 4 over and in a tie for 27th on the individual leaderboard. Arizona State's Linnea Strom leads the field at 6 under.
Sophomore Amy Matsuoka enjoyed a solid first round with an even-par 71, the best round of the day for the Ducks, but she was hurt by three double-bogeys in an 8-over second round to finish the day at 8 over.
Freshman Alexis Phadungmartvorakul, coming off a stellar collegiate debut at the East-West Match Play, shot a 76 (+5) in both rounds to enter the final round at 10 over, and junior Petra Salko rounded out the counting cards for the Ducks at 11 over.
Senior Kelsey Ulep shot an 8-over 79 in the first round, but was forced to withdraw from the rest of the tournament due to injury.
What it Means: With Ulep out of the tournament, the Ducks will look to lower their scores in Tuesday's final round with all four Ducks set to contribute counting cards.
Notable: The Ducks were 4 under on par-5 holes … Scavo led the Ducks on the day with seven birdies, while Matsuoka had a team-best 23 pars.
Up Next: Oregon will be paired with UC Davis and Tulane on Tuesday and will tee off beginning at 6:24 a.m. PT.Â
