EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 4 ranked Oregon softball team lost to No. 12 Washington, 5-3, in nine innings on Saturday in the rubber game of a three-game series at Jane Sanders Stadium.
The Ducks (37-4, 10-4 Pac-12) dropped the opening game of the series but won the second game before falling in game three. It's the first time Oregon has lost a series to Washington since 2011.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Washington took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth after a double and an Oregon error.
Oregon answered back quickly, however, as Nikki Udria belted a two-run homer to right in the bottom of the fourth, her team-leading ninth of the season.
Udria gave the Ducks an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth as her RBI single to center gave Oregon up, 3-1.
Washington rallied in the top of the seventh, however, as Morganne Flores hit a two-run double to right center to tie the game, 3-3, and force extra innings.
Flores delivered for the Huskies in the ninth with another two-run double to give Washington the 5-3 victory.
