EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 3 ranked Oregon softball team closes out the 2017 regular season this week with a three-game series at Stanford.
The Ducks and Cardinal will meet at 4 PM on Thursday, 5 PM on Friday and noon on Saturday.
#3 OREGON DUCKS (44-6, 14-6 Pac-12)
Team BA: .324 | Team ERA: 1.33 | Runs Scored: 321 | Runs Allowed: 80
Recently: Oregon swept a three-game series with then-No. 2 Florida State in Eugene
National Rankings: No. 3 in the NFCA poll, No. 2 in the USA Softball poll
All-Time Series: Oregon leads, 45-32 (Ducks have won 13 straight vs. Stanford)
Last Meeting: Oregon swept the three-game series last year with two run-rule wins
Notable: Oregon missed out on a fifth-straight Pac-12 title last weekend, as Arizona clinched on Sunday, but the Ducks certainly proved they are a contender for a trip to OKC once again. The Ducks swept a three-game series against then-No. 2 Florida State, allowing just one earned run (two total) to the big-hitting Seminoles. The Ducks are up to No. 2 in the newest NCAA RPI. After the stellar weekend, the Ducks now rank No. 5 in the NCAA with a 1.33 ERA and 11th with a .324 batting average. Oregon has three of the top-6 pitchers in the Pac-12 in terms of ERA - Maggie Balint (3rd, 1.13), Megan Kleist (4th, 1.25) and Miranda Elish (6th, 1.72).
STANFORD CARDINAL (19-29, 2-19 Pac-12)
Team BA: .277 | Team ERA: 5.60 | Runs Scored: 216 | Runs Allowed: 260
Recently: Dropped 2-of-3 against Washington over the weekend
National Rankings: Stanford is unranked in both polls
Head Coach: Rachel Hanson (Third Season)
Notable: Stanford has struggled this year, with a 2-19 record in conference play going into the final weekend of the regular season. The Cardinal played No. 7 Washington tough last weekend, dropping the first game, 1-0, before winning the second game, 6-0. UW claimed the third game, 10-2. Kylie Sorenson has been a bright spot, with a team-high .369 batting average plus 12 doubles, four homers and 36 RBIs. Sorenson, a year older, went to West Ranch HS along with Oregon second baseman Lauren Lindvall. Sophomore Carolyn Lee has thrown a team-high 133.0 innings with an 8-19 record and a 4.89 ERA. Lee has struck out 87 batters but walked 78.
