Raskie's Triple-Double Leads Ducks Past Buffs
10/12/18 | Women's Volleyball
August Raskie finished with 41 assists, 11 digs and 10 kills for her first career triple-double to lead the Ducks past Colorado
BOULDER, Colo. – Senior August Raskie recorded her first career triple-double to lead the No. 14 Oregon volleyball team to a 25-19, 32-30, 14-25, 25-16 win over Colorado in front of 1,528 fans in the CU Events Center on Friday night.
The Ducks (12-5, 5-2 Pac-12) won their fifth straight road match behind 41 assists, 11 digs and a career-high 10 kills from Raskie, a Colorado native who put on a show in front of fans in family in what was likely her final collegiate match in her home state.
"Really happy for August," said head coach Matt Ulmer. "What a cool way to end her senior ride here in Colorado, and she had a lot of people here rooting her on tonight, so that was awesome. She was very impressive and showed what's she capable of. I thought her attitude in the fourth set was really what gave us the win."

How it Happened: The Ducks jumped out to a 10-5 lead to open the match, but Colorado (10-8, 2-5 Pac-12) played back to a 15-15 tie. Oregon then took advantage of CU mistakes to retake control of the set, taking a 23-16 lead with an 8-1 run that included six Buffalo errors. Ronika Stone made it 24-18 with a kill, and national player of the week Taylor Borup sealed the set with her team-leading fourth kill of the game.
Oregon survived a wild second set, 32-30, to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. After the Ducks took a 5-1 lead, the Buffs rallied back to move ahead, 14-13. Trailing 22-20, Lindsey Vander Weide scored the first of three straight UO points to give the Ducks the lead, but CU scored three out of four to earn set-point, 25-24. Kills by Vander Weide and Borup made it 26-25, Oregon, but Colorado stayed alive and played to a 28-28 tie. Vander Weide again fought off a CU set-point with a kill and, after CU went ahead again 30-29, Sumeet Gill put down a kill to tie it, Vander Weide's eighth kill of the game made it 31-30 and a CU attack error gave the Ducks a crazy set-two win.
The Ducks were unable to get things going throughout the third set as the Buffs sent the match to a fourth game. CU scored the first four points of the set and never looked back, allowing Oregon to score consecutive points just twice in the game.
Trailing 4-3 in the fourth, three straight kills by Vander Weide, Borup and Gill ignited a 9-4 UO run that forced a Colorado timeout. CU cut the Ducks' lead to 17-13 before another Vander Weide kill started a 3-0 Oregon run. Borup made it 23-15 with a kill, and Raskie secured her triple-double with her career-high 10th kill, one of three in the set, to earn match-point before a CU attack error clinched the match for the Ducks.
Who Stood Out: Raskie hit .714 while securing her first triple-double, the first this year by a Pac-12 player and the first by a Duck since the 2001 season. Vander Weide led the Ducks with 17 kills and added six digs, Borup finished with 14 kills and eight digs and Stone put down eight kills while notching a career-high 12 digs. Lauren Page and Gill combined for 10 more kills, and freshman Camryn Tastad dug a career-high 16 balls in her first Pac-12 start.
What it Means: The Ducks continue to perform well on the road, picking up their fifth straight road win and third in a row in Pac-12 play. Oregon kept pace in a crowded Pac-12 Conference that had five teams tied for second at 4-2 entering the weekend. The Ducks will look to keep things going on Sunday against Utah in Salt Lake City.

On the match…
"Really proud of the way we fought on the road. Colorado is a very good team and this is a really tough place to play. I thought we served and passed really well tonight and did a good job of keeping them out of system. I thought Cam (Tastad) did a great job at libero and I thought Lindsey was exceptional really the whole night, and we needed that from her."
Notable: Raskie raised her career assist total to 2,185, moving her past Sydney Chute (2002-05) for No. 8 in Oregon history ... The Ducks improved to 5-1 on the road this season … Oregon is now 11-0 when winning the first set, 10-0 when winning the first two sets and 11-1 when leading in attack percentage … Kyra Hanawahine returned from injury for her first action since Aug. 31, recording an ace and a dig … UO improved its all-time record against CU to 13-5.
Up Next: The Ducks will fly to Salt Lake City to play Utah on Sunday at 11 a.m. PT in the Jon M Huntsman Center (Pac-12 Network).
