No. 3 Ducks Top No. 18 Syracuse

EUGENE, Ore. - Down six points with two minutes left to play, the No. 3 ranked Oregon women's basketball team rallied back to beat No. 18 Syracuse, 75-73, on Saturday in front of 6,879 fans at Matthew Knight Arena.
The Ducks (2-0) used back-to-back-to-back three-pointers to take a 70-67 lead with 51 seconds remaining and hits free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win.
" I'm really proud of our team," said head coach Kelly Graves. "They kept their composure, made some stops and, more importantly, we hit a couple of timely threes. That was a good game, good learning experience. They are a good team - we knew they would be - and it's great for us early in the season to play this kind of game."
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Ducks came out hot, holding a 20-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. Oregon led by as much as 15 points, with 4:11 left in the second, before Syracuse closed out the first half on an 8-1 run to make it a 34-27 lead for the Ducks at the break. Oregon held Syracuse to just 22.2 percent shooting in the first half, including 0-for-7 from three-point range.
The Orange turned up their press in the second half and battled back into the game. Syracuse cut the Ducks' lead to just two, at 44-42, with 2:06 left in the third quarter. The Ducks made just 4-of-16 shots in the third quarter.
Syracuse tied the game for the first time at 54-54 with 6:13 left in the fourth. With Oregon leading by four, Syracuse went on a 10-0 run to take a 67-61 lead with 2:06 remaining. But the Ducks answered with three straight three-pointers - two from Sabrina Ionescu and one from Erin Boley - to take a 70-67 lead with just 51 seconds left.
The Ducks knocked down their free throws - including four from Maite Cazorla - to ice the game in the final minute.
BIG SHOTS: "I saw we went down six, and I just did everything I could to not lose that game," Ionescu said. "I knew it was time to hit some big-time shots."
BOX SCORE: Ionescu led Oregon with a game-high 26 points to go with 10 rebounds, six assists and no turnovers, posting a double-double after tallying a triple-double in UO's season opener on Tuesday at Alaska-Fairbanks. After a quiet first half, Ruthy Hebard also had a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Cazorla, who went 6-for-6 at the free throw line, finished with 14 points while Boley added 13 in her home debut with the Ducks.
TOP-25 WINS: The Ducks have now knocked off 19 top-25 teams under head coach Kelly Graves. Oregon had nine top-25 wins last season, with three coming against UCLA.
