EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon volleyball senior Lindsey Vander Weide and junior Ronika Stone have been named to the all-Pac-12 team after leading the Ducks to a terrific regular season and a host bid in the NCAA Tournament, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Freshman Brooke Nuneviller also earned a spot on the Pac-12 all-freshman team after a stellar rookie campaign at libero, and she joined senior setter August Raskie and junior right-side Willow Johnson as an all-Pac-12 honorable mention recipient.
Vander Weide earned a spot on the all-Pac-12 team for the third time in her career after putting together arguably her best season for the Ducks. The 2016 third-team all-American led Oregon in the regular season with career-highs of 3.97 points per set, 3.45 kills per set and 2.98 digs per set, and she leads the team in aces (31) and is second in double-doubles (13). A Turlock, Calif., native, Vander Weide became the fifth player in program history to surpass 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs, and she currently ranks fourth all-time at Oregon in points (1,615.5), sixth in attack attempts (3,809), seventh in digs (1,194), eighth in kills (1,384) and tied for ninth in service aces (106).
Like Vander Weide, Stone posted career-highs in nearly every category during the regular season to warrant all-Pac-12 recognition for the second year in a row. The San Jose, Calif., native owns career-bests of 3.87 points per set, 3.02 kills per set and 1.20 blocks per set, and her .337 hitting percentage ranks eighth in the Pac-12. Still just a junior, Stone is already tied for third in Oregon history with 317 career block assists, and her 115 block assists this year are currently tied for No. 9 in single-season history.
Nuneviller was named to the conference all-freshman team after shining all year at libero with 4.99 digs per set, good for No. 2 the Pac-12. She was especially good during conference play, when she averaged an impressive 5.26 digs per set. The Chandler, Ariz., native enters the postseason with double-digit digs in 22 consecutive matches, and her 509 total digs this year are currently eighth on the UO single-season list. Nuneviller has also been solid at the service line, where she is third on the team with 26 aces.
Raskie just missed out on making the all-Pac-12 team after a stellar regular season as Oregon's primary setter. The senior ranks second in the Pac-12 and sixth in the nation with 11.92 assists per set, and she recorded Oregon's first triple-double since 2001 on Oct. 12 with 41 assists, 11 digs and 10 kills in her home state of Colorado. Raskie is currently fifth in UO history with 2,754 career assists, and she is eighth in single-season history with 1,311 this year.
Johnson has also put together a career season as a junior to earn all-Pac-12 honorable mention, averaging 2.83 kills per set on .318 hitting. The junior was named to the all-tournament team for both the VERT Challenge and the Oregon Classic, and she was a huge factor in last week's big road wins at No. 19 Washington and Oregon State with 29 total kills.
The Ducks are the No. 15 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will open up at home on Thursday against New Mexico State at 7 p.m. in Matthew Knight Arena.
